The 2023 Advanced Surface Engineering Division (SE) program includes three oral sessions and one poster session focused on all topics, basic and applied, experimental and computational, related to engineering the properties and functionalities of surfaces. The Monday morning session “Advanced Multi-Functional Thin Film Materials” will feature the AVS John A. Thornton Memorial Award talk by Prof. Lars Hultman from Linköping University, followed by an all-invited session on “Surface Engineering by Deposition of Protective Coatings.” The afternoon session “Mechanics and Tribology of Thin Films and Coatings” will cover a wide range of topics related to thermomechanical, oxidation-resistance, and tribological properties.
